When this little lady stopped by the studio on her birthday I was honored to document such a special time in her life. Tasha and Greg are on fire! We rocked out this loving and fashionable shoot in the meatpacking district and even found ourselves on the roof of the Gansevoort hotel. It was wonderful to walk around and chat, just getting to know each other. Getting to know your photographer is one of the best things that comes out of your engagement session! Plus I love when I meet someone else who loves to eat almost as much as me!

With Tasha's awesome fashion sense and Greg's boyish smile I know their 2012 wedding (and the photos) will be AWESOME and filled with love!!!

When I first sat down with Aisha and David I asked them to tell me 3 words that describe them as a couple. It took some time but eventually I had 3. Now that I have gotten to know them I have one word to describe it. Effortless. Their love is true, easy going, and just wonderful to watch. They said "I do" this weekend and I was honored to be a part of it. From the first look to the last dance at the reception; I was able to feel the love. Aisha and David have come a long way since they dated once before about 10 years ago. This time it is forever. You can look at them and see that they will never let each other go again.

Jason and Sanchia planned a big wedding. Yes it does say City Hall Wedding above, no mistakes here. One day they decided that what they really needed was a small intimate day with those closest to them. Jason and Sanchia bravely left behind the big wedding plans and the deposits already given to vendors. This includes a deposit for a different wedding photographer. (They didn't know about me then teehee) I think that this was such a strong move on their part. To give up preconceived notions of what their day should be to make it what was good for their souls.

Numerous times throughout the day you could hear Sanchia saying how perfect the day was. She wouldn't have had it any other way! No mistake there.

Meeting Ruby and Rolanda at Temple University was definitely worth the trip. They met at Temple so what better place for their engagement session! We explored all of the key spots. Where they noticed each other, the place Ruby handed Rolanda a flyer to an event she wanted to see her at, and where they had their first kiss!

Studio Updates

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Valentine's Day!!

Though I had to celebrate Valentine's day early I must say it was awesome! Dinner Saturday night with the honey was absolutely lovely and very yummy. I had more than a sip of a very blue and fruity cocktail which resulted in me falling asleep in the car on the way to our second destination. I woke up a few times and insisted that we could still go dancing but I guess he knew better and I ultimately woke up as we pulled up to my house. I had to laugh!

On Sunday I saw that the lovely Kathleen from Kat Flower would be at the Brooklyn Flea and I had to go. I never got to pick out my own Valentine's flowers before but it seemed like a plan to me! I watched my Valentine play Angry Birds on his cell while I chatted with Kathleen and watched her arrange my lovely bouquet. All I had to say was that I wanted peonies and ranunculus and I got this lovely creation! The joy of giving an artist the artistic freedom to create!

We then stopped by the Pop Up Photobooth to have a photo taken. I had on silly glasses but I took them off for the last shot so he ended up being the only one in costume!! Loving those Mickey ears though!

We laughed, we cried, we froze! Okay so maybe we didn't cry but it was so cold that we almost did! Andrea and Scott were such troopers and it was great getting to know them during their engagement session in Central Park. I can already tell that their wedding taking place at the beautiful Coindre Hall is going to be amazing! These two know how to laugh and have fun. One of the coolest things about this session was that Scott knows Central Park like the back of his hand. I learned so many things about the park and some great tips for finding my way around. Thanks Scott!!

Since we met in Boston for their engagement session I have been looking forward to James and Nicole's wedding. When Nicole looks at James you can fill the love reach out and surround him. If you don't want to feel good step back because the love will surround you as well! Lucky for me I LOVE the feeling. I am lucky to be surrounded by clients that have to much love to give and to share.

When I arrived for the day and first saw Nicole I was instantly greeted by her wonderful smile and energy. We gave each other the biggest hug, and as we talked for a few seconds she suddenly hugged me again. It was great to know she was as happy to have me there as I was to be there! SO enough gushing about how wonderful these two are. On to the photographs so you can also see how wonderfully happy they were on their big day.

For all of my future couples: The first look is a very personal and private moment that you can share as a couple on your wedding day. By having a first look before the ceremony, you can take advantage of seeing each other without the nerves of walking down the aisle with all eyes on you. It will likely be the only time you are alone together that day and is also a way to make sure your portraits are taken while there is still wonderful light in the sky.

I haven't had a session at the promenade in a while and I forgot how much I love it! Mario and Stephanie were so much fun. I went to high school with Mario and when he came by the studio with his bride to be I must say I got teary eyed. My reaction came from a few different places. For one thing I am so happy for him and can see the love oozing. Secondly, he just seems like such a grown up which he obviously is! Lastly it made me realize that, oh boy, that means I am a grown up too! Yes I should know that already but in life sometimes I have these WOW moments.

I know this is a tiny sneak peek so please forgive me. The studio is SUPER busy right now during the holiday season!

During the session I learned that Mario is even sillier now than he was in high school!

Rebecca and Corinne traveled all the way from Australia to have a beautiful wedding here in Connecticut. They are such a sweet couple and I wish them years of happiness and togetherness. There is something special about it just being the 2 of them to experience such a special and personal occasion! I was also honored to be one of only five to enjoy the beautiful ceremony. That five includes the couple, the officiant, my assistant and I. How awesome is that to have your new spouse all to yourself on your special day! They picked such a beautiful location. Kent falls is amazing and so is the Inn at Kent Falls where they stayed. Between the turning leaves, awesome covered bridges, and waterfalls it was pure eye candy!

Shelly and Aaron are dream clients! We clicked during my first chat with Shelly. They traveled from Washington to have a NYC wedding with friends and family since they lived here a few years ago. It was great to get to know them during the engagement session and also refreshing that they were so calm about everything. Calm and in love. The love was literally oozing off of them during out session and I could not help but smile and giggle. We were blessed with a beautiful day. Despite it being late September we encountered a few butterflies and the heat of a midsummer day.

I loved how the colors in Shelly's dress and shoes worked so well with those of the Wonder Wheel and the sky.

Like I said. OOZING LOVE :)

It was a great session and we ended it with a yummy trip to Nathan's! How can you go to Coney ISland without stopping at Nathan's? Those fries are delish!!

I hadn't been to Grenada in about 8 years. I remembered the beauty, the wonderful food and the gift of family. I also remember that by the time 2 weeks hit I was ready to get out of Dodge. I guess that was the teenage me because the adult Nas was ready to stay am take in the joy of life on this little island. The beaches are so amazing that no matter how long I sat with the waves crashing against me I kept feeling overwhelmed and surprised by its great beauty.

Roast corn seems to be everyone's favorite in Grenada. You can only drive but so far before you find someone else selling it on the side of the road. Very yummy!

This photo was taken as we entered Gouyave, the fishing capital of Grenada.

I loved seeing so many buildings painted with Grenada's flag.

The clouds were amazing! This was the first time I remember being on the beach with my grandmother, and I am so thankful to have this portrait of my son and his great grandmother.

When Nailah called me to photograph a few items from her new children's styling and boutique website, Suki Lulu's, I was super excited. Nailah has such great taste in children's clothing and I cannot wait for her to offer boys clothing which is coming soon. Her 2 little models were so much fun to work with. Its so funny observing children during sessions and wondering just how their current personality now will translate into their adult persona. That is definitely one of the things I love about photographing children.

This little one gave me lots of serious and a few smiles that I had to work hard for! I love the blue and white shorts. Really Nailah! Will you find them in my size? :)

Central Park Engagement Session | New York Wedding Photographer

I don't even know where to start with these two! Let's just say instant chemistry from the start! No I am not talking about their relationship! I am talking about OUR relationship! From the first few emails I could tell that Lanita was definitely a girl I could roll with, and when I met Raki at the consultation it just sweetened the pot! Nothing better than clients who you would love to call friends! The wedding is one year away and I cannot wait! Yes I love exclamation marks, so please forgive me. I just get really excited when I get to have such wonderful people as clients!

On the day of the engagement shoot we met super early in Central Park because it was going to be a scorcher. By scorcher I mean heat advisory, don't take your dogs outside hot! Lanita and Raki had already scouted out the locations they wanted and it was awesome because I am known to get a bit turned around (just plain lost) in Central Park. We didn't exactly beat the heat but we avoided the worst of it. I think! It was pretty hot.

One of the locations almost got me eaten by a lake monster. I really didn't think there were fish in the water. Do you see how calm the water looks behind them? Well a HUGE fish jumped up and made a Loch Ness Monster sized splash while my back was to the water. It definitely shocked all three of us.

So Raki and I both share a crazy fear of insects. I was glad she could understand me when I went running from the biggest bee I ever saw that seemed to have a crush on me. Really, it just kept coming back for more. Then Lanita, lover of nature, explained to me that Bumble bees don't sting and that is why they are so big and loud. Their size and buzzing keep away predators! Ha! Who knew. See that! How could I not love this girl! By the way Lanita, that info helped me on my trip to Grenada.

With all of the love oozing out of these two they made my job so easy!

The swings were such a great idea and a wonderful way to end such a fun session!

I was able to get this fun shot at brunch. Not sure who told them that food was the way to my heart but it was yummy and totally appreciated!

In celebration of Back to School I want to share one of my fav little clients. This is the final session from his Baby Steps Collection and I know am going to miss him. So far I have photographed him as a newborn, at 6 months, and now as a one year old big boy! It has been so great watching him grow! Little things like the new faces he makes, his wobbly new walk, and his fast growing curly hair really makes me smile. The thought of not seeing him until his 2nd birthday is a tough for me to swallow. Mom and I always spend some time chatting after sessions, which I truly enjoy, while I sneak in a few more moments with him sans camera. Thanks for making me a part of such a special year!

There is nothing like spending a few weeks in a tropical paradise. My son is having the time of his life and I can no longer count on one hand how many rainbows I have seen. Besides Delta loosing my luggage this has been such a wonderful experience. See you when I return!!

I love meeting super sweet teenagers! Hirah is the definition of super sweet. She greeted me with a big hug though we had only spoken briefly on the phone and vis email before the session. I think was my most excited client to date. I could tell this session was very important to her and that meant so much to me. Hirah was pretty shy at the beginning so we did lots of chatting and she began to open up.

Right about here is when she opened up. It was like seeing a butterfly emerge.

Thank you Hirah for being such a sweet a beautiful person!!

I am still out of the country but it has been a very rainy day so I decided to spend some time updating the neglected blog. More to come!

I have to admit this is my favorite little guy! He is on the "Baby Steps" program so I have the pleasure of photographing him throughout his first year of life. He turned 6 months old during the holiday season which made for a perfect backdrop for him and his beautiful Mommy. I always love seeing you two. I even stayed after the shoot to feed him and play for a while. He always makes me feel so warm and cuddly inside!

I had so much fun during this shoot! It was absolutely freezing but somehow we made it happen. By the end of the shoot it started to snow. This was the first time I shot on the roof of my studio and it was great. So if you are interested in a rooftop shoot when you book your session let me know! I am sure it will be more bearable in the summer.

First I have to say how much I absolutely adore Aryn. She is an amazing, loving, and caring person who is super organized and it showed on her wedding day. Aryn is a teacher and Sal is a fireman; what a couple! I have been looking forward to this day since the engagement shoot over a year ago.

Aryn looked HOT HOT HOT! What a beautiful bride! Everyone kept saying she looked like a doll. Her headpiece was custom made to match her dress, and it was just awesome!

Aryn's dad was awesome. You could see emotion in his eyes as he watched his little girl getting ready. He had the cutest button in his jacket along with a note of the cash to be dished out that day. I love it! Did I mention his name is also Sal?! Sweet.

Aryn's Matron of Honor Tina is beautiful and is such an awesome person. What a great friendship they have! Gotta love the face Aryn is making here. She cracks me up. This family has the "Sal face" and the many faces of Aryn to keep them entertained!

Sal looked so handsome with those dimples showing all night. He was all grins from the moment Aryn walked down the aisle.

It was absolutely freezing out side so everyone moved at top speed to the party bus and car.

One of my favorite images from the church. I love how Sal is looking at her while she puts the ring on his finger. And there go the dimples!

The room was stunning with a beautiful view.

Aryn makes the best faces. She is so expressive and it makes her even more fun to photograph. It reminds me of me. I am good for a few fun and crazy faces at any given time.

There were so many lovely ladies at the reception. This photo reminds me of the America's Next Top Model photo that is released at the beginning of each new season and Aryn is Tyra all front and center.

Ok... so you haven't been to a wedding reception until you experience the groomsmen tying their ties together and playing jump rope. REALLY!! I had a ball watching these guys jump rope, and even a few brave ladies jumping in their heels.

NEW YOOOORK concrete jungle where dreams are made of... I am pretty sure that is the song that was playing when I took this photo. Am I correct Aryn? Everyone, including me, went crazy when Empire State of Mind played.

It was freezing outside and we were right on the waterfront. We probably spent 2 minutes flat taking a few photos outside of the venue. It was definitely worth the next 2 shots!

When Duane called me asking to have a photo session two days later it was a huge run around to get it all in place. The fact that all of his family were together and he would be off to Afghanistan soon after made it hard for me to say no. I really enjoyed my time with this beautiful family. It's funny that Duane thought his parents would give me trouble because they were both awesome! Thanks for choosing me out of that long list ;)

I asked Mom how she handled having three boys, and she let me know that the trick is to have more than one!!

There is an old photo of Dad with his groomsmen from their parents wedding day that Duane wanted to recreate. I love it! Now they have a photo that tells a story, that tells another story!

I had so much fun with this little lady and her Mom. They have such a fun relationship and it was nice to spend a few hours with them. She loved the camera and it loved her too. I was so happy when Baby N's mom called be for her 1st birthday pictures. I hadn't seen her since her newborn photo session. As soon as I saw this sweet little girl she reached out to be as if it was only yesterday that we were together. I feel so special because Mom says she doesn't go to others easily. We had so much fun in Brooklyn Bridge Park. I got to see her new moves as she just started to walk.

It must come from being the mommy of a boy that I love things like trucks, construction sites, and hydrants. Whenever I travel I try to get photographs of the local fire department, and I always get fun shots of colorful hydrants. I loved these two in bright orange. The first was from a very fun trip to Mystic, CT that I will always remember, and the second is from a great trip to Baltimore, MD.

What a fun family! These two boys gave me a run for my money, especially the youngest. It was his first time ever having professional photos taken and it took him a while to warm up to me but I had fun chasing him around the park. Whenever I photograph boys I spend half of the session chasing them around. It seems to be their favorite part. It was fun to watch the boys with their Dad and he seemed to having a blast as well! This is one funny family and they had me laughing the whole time.

He really stole my heart. Besides a fun session I had some fun one on one time with baby A and even got to feed him while he stared right into my eyes. When the camera wasn't on him he gave me all the giggles, smiles and baby talk a girl could ask for so I left feeling super special. We managed to capture some on camera smiles and he definitely gave that intense eye contact to the lens!

Baby A & Family became camera shy but I didn't want to loose Mom's beautiful comment!

I had a ball with these two! From the moment they called me for an engagement shoot I knew we would have fun. We spent a very hot morning in DUMBO, BK capturing their super fun and very sweet relationship! I am impressed that they are so on point and have locked in their 10-10-10 wedding date. Love it!

Free love and dolls hanging out catching a breeze. This is why I love being out and about during photo sessions... we definitely would not have seen these things in the studio!

I had such a new, interesting and fun experience during this great party. The wedding ceremony was held at an earlier date and I was called in to photograph the women's wedding reception while the men's wedding reception was going on downstairs. It was very different for me as I could not photograph anyone but the bride and groom and only certain parts of the party. It was hard holding back but taking in the festivities made up for it. Once all the men left the women were able to take off their black coverings which is called a hijab. There were so many pretty and colorful dresses popping out everywhere as they got ready to dance and party the night away.

Though I cannot share much I would like to share the bride's beautiful henna.

After rescheduling for a month and a half due to rained out session dates we finally got to have some fun. We met on a very hot day at the Brooklyn Promenade which is one of my favorite place for sessions. He stole my heart right away with those big beautiful eyes and chubby cheeks! This session went through phases as Baby B's mood changed every so often.

He started out shy...

Then I got him going...

...and the chase was on...

I chased him for most of the session and then got him to take a breather... such a cute pouty face!

I let him take a few pictures and then he was fascinated with the camera.
